Emerald Faerie Baby

Greetings!

TGIFF!  Thank God it is finally Friday, right?!  It has been another emotionally and physcially draining week for me.  I have experienced highs and unfortunately lows; however, I am still standing.

Today I want to share with you a creation I made using Emerald Faeries Mother and child image.  I think these images are so precious and love coloring them.

Here's my creation...

Once again, these are colors I probably wouldn't have put together, but using the beautiful dp as my  inspiration this is what I came up with.  I love how it turned out.  I created a sentiment to go along with the image  which reads "Babies blossom in the arms of their mothers."  I truly believe this (not just because I came up with it). :-)  There is an undeniable bond between a child and mother.  Eventhough my mother has 14 children, she has a special unique relationship with each one of us.  I colored this beauty up with Copics and each time I try to use a color I never used before or rarely use somewhere in my creations.  I used a Dark Pink in this creation on her shirt and pants.

What's New?

Greetings!

Today I would like to share with you a colorful card using dp from Echo Park Digital collection "Happy Days."  Remember "Happy Days?"  Aaayyyy, I'm the Fonz.  Okay, I got sidetracked.  lol  Anyways, I am sharing a card using an image I believe from Paulette at Create with TLC and a sentiment from her as well.

Here's my card...

This was a fun card I just put together.  As I stated previously, I believe the image is from Paulette and know that the sentiment is.  I used dp from Echo papers and cardstock from SU.  I punched out a tag using SU punch tag and added a eyelet.  I used Copics to color the phone and Copics Spica marker to add some bling.

Believe in yourself...

Greetings!

My grandmother would always say, "Believe in yourself or noone else will."  Today I bring to you one of my cards using an image from MazyArt which has really cool digital stamps.  A big THANKS goes to my ebuddy Mz. Trina who turned me on to this shop.  She is such an enabler. lol   This company has definitely been worked into my budget. :-)

For this creation, I used "Looks Like Rain Xandra."  Here's my creation...

I really allowed the dp from MME to guide the color layout for this card.  I would have never chosen these colors or patterns on my own. :-)  I loved how it turned out.  I even played around with my sewing machine to add some stitching.  (I need to practice - lol)  The sentiment was from Create with TLC.  I added the buttons and lace to make it even more feminine.

Well thanks for looking and commenting!

I'm ready for my spotlight...

Greetings!

Today I am not posting a new card.  I will do that tomorrow.  Today I am just doing a quick post to talk about how appreciative I am to have been spotlighted/spied on this past week by three awesome companies.  The first of these awesome companies is Little Miss Muffet.  My Agent Eclair card was spotlighted and I am so happy, because what a fun creation to make.

My second spotlight card was spotlighted by The Alley Way stamps (TAW).  I created a card using the comb freebie that Alison so kindly gave away.  I immediately knew what I wanted to do with this image when I saw it and it's a cherry on top that others liked it as well.

The last company is Doodle Pantry that "spied on me" and saw my card below.  I made a male(ish) card for their challenge and was recognized for it.  How cool is that?

I honestly create for selfish reasons...to challenge myself.  However, it is always nice when what I create is recognize.  A lot of my cards end up going to local charities, friends or family.  Being spotlighted by these three companies mean bunches to me so thank you thank you thank you!!

You should check these stores out and let them know Candy sent you.

SD: Kiss Me!

Greetings (or Top of the Morning to you)!

We have all got a bit o' Irish in us today here over at Scrapper's Delights as we kick off the "Luck of the Irish" challenge. We are asking that you use the color green and/or wish someone luck with your creation. I used the lipstick and lips from SD Valentine's day releae to create my lucky card.

I created the sentiment that reads, "Kiss me and I'll pretend I'm irish."   I used Marco's Paper and SU cardstock.  The dp is from MME.  I used a corner rounder on my edges and added some Copics to the lips and the lipstick.

As you can see, Janice's images are very versatile and can be used for any occassion. I can see making a Christmas card using the lips..."sending you warm wishes and wet kisses this holiday season." Your imagination is truly the only limitation. :-) So pull out an image, color it up green and join us as we celebrate the luck of the irish!

"Agent Eclair dropping"

Greetings!

UPDATED:  Woo hoo!  I was spotlighted on Little Miss Muffet for this card!  Thanks ladies!!

Today, I am sharing with you a card I made using agent Eclaire dropping from Little Miss Muffet.  I had fun with this image.  So many possiblities.

Anyway, here's my card...

I used a sentiment I created for another creation, but thought it would work out perfect for this card.  I wanted an uplifting card, because so many people I know are needing a lift.  I digitally paperpieced the balloon and used cardstock from SU.  I colored Agent Eclair with Copics and added some glass glaze to her goggles.  I used Copics Spica pens to add accents to her boots and buckles.

I am going to enter this in their challenge this week as well as...

The Craft Place Blog Challenge:  Anything Goes

Comb it over...

Greetings!

I hope you are having a productive Monday!  We are going on week two of gorgeous weather here in Michigan.  Unfortunately, I am stuck in an office and unable to play. :-(  Oh well, I am thankful for my job because as I tell my co-workers...it supports my habit  hobby. *gigl*

Today, I am sharing with you a quick card I put together.  The Alley Way gave away this cute little comb and sentiment set.  I immediately knew what I wanted to do with the comb and combined it with a different sentiment, only because I made the card with someone in mind.

Here's the inspiration...

Here's my card...

As previously stated, I used the freebie that TAW gave away and then created the lines on the computer.  I colored the combs and lines with Copics and added some glass glaze to make them glisten.  I used a SU tag punch to punch out my sentiment and SU cardstock to layer and create my card.

I am entering this card in the following challenges...

Creating Watermark Tutorial

Greetings!

UPDATE:  Sorry for the wonky way the second part of the tutorial originally posted.  I have fixed it.  I think the St. Patty gremlins decided to "punk" me. lol

Today I am going to share with you a tutorial for creating your own watermarks.  I typically use Photoshop, but I realize not everyone can afford Photoshop so here is a free software called Pixlr that is virtually very similar to PSE.  This is actually a 3 part tutorial (only sharing Parts 1 and 2 today) that will walk you through the steps for 1).  Creating a Watermark, 2). Applying it to your picture and 3). Creating a watermark directly on the picture.  I hope you find this tutorial useful.  I will share #3 and others in the upcoming weeks so make sure you check back. :-)

This is a free program that you can use to create watermarks, edit and save pictures and so much more.
Part I:  Creating and saving a watermark.
1.         Go to the Pixlr website at http://pixlr.com/editor/ and you will see a screen like the one below.  You will be prompted to create, open from computer, open from website or open from a library the picture of your choice to work with.

2.          You will choose to “Create an image” and your screen will look like this.

3.    Here’s is where you will create the dimensions for your watermark.  Enter the name for your watermark and change the default presets to 1024 x 768.  You will see that it will be helpful in Part II of this tutorial.  Make sure that the “transparent” box is checked, you don’t want the white background.  Once you have made your selections, click “ok.”  Note:  I suggest creating two watermarks – one white and one black.

4.  Now you are ready to work.  Click on the “text” button on the tool bar menu and then click on the workspace.

5.  Your screen should now look like similar to the one below and you can begin to type in your information.   NOTE:  your box may not show in full; however, if you click on the top of the box you will get an arrow pointer that will allow you to drag it around to your desired position.

6.   As you enter your information, you can see how it will look on your workspace.  You can format your information by changing the font, font size, color and style.  You can also center your information by hitting the spacebar to line it up.  Whatever changes you make you will be able to be seen instantly on your picture in the blue box.  Note:  I changed my Font, size, style and color.  Make sure you choose a font script that is easy to read.

7.  Once you have everything the way you desire it to be, then you can click “OK” and save your watermark for future use by clicking FILE, SAVE,  and then the screen below appears.
There are a few things to pay attention to on this screen.
Section A:  The first section gives you options of places to save your watermark (My Computer, imm.io, Pixlr Library, Facebook, Flickr, and Picasa).  My computer obviously allows you to save your work to your computer.  I haven’t received a clear answer on what is an imm.io, Pixlr library can be set up by creating an account with Pixlr.  By selecting Facebook it will save it to your account there and Flickr and Picasa are albums that you can use to share pictures.  I have selected to save it to my computer.
Section B:  If saving to your computer, this is where you will decide to change the name of your watermark and the format in which to save it.  I recommend that you save the format as a .png.  This will give you a transparent background (no white) and allow you to easily apply it to your pictures.  Click on the drop down box next to the description and click on your selection to make the change.

8.  Once you have completed your changes, click “ok” and save your watermark in a place you will be able to retrieve it for future use.

9.  All done!!

Part II: Using an existing watermark on a picture.
1. Follow the steps listed in #1 of Part 1’s Tutorial.

2.    Select “open image from computer” and retrieve your picture that you would like to apply a watermark to.

3. Now we will apply the watermark as a layer over our picture. Click on the “Layers” tab at the top of the menu bar and then click on “open image as a layer.”

4.Retrieve your watermark that you saved in Part 1.It will show up on your picture and you can move it to your desired location by selecting the “move tool” from the tool menu bar.

5. I saved made my watermark using white font. You can now save your card for future use.Note:I selected the Edwardian Script for my watermark which is difficult to read.Make sure you choose a font that is easy to read.

6. Here’s my finished card with the white watermark.

This image is the Princess 3 Digi that you can pick up in SD store.

I hope this helps you create your very own watermark. If you would like this tutorial in .pdf format, please email me at cardsbycandy@yahoo.com and put "Watermark Toot" in the subject line.

Also, are Spring Blog Hop is coming up next weekend (March 23 - 25, 2012) so make sure you join us for your chance to win some awesome prizes and to be inspired by our talented design team!!

Uplifting Friends

Greetings!

Everyone needs a little lifting of spirits every once and a while.  I know I could use it lately, because I am battling a serious bought of insomnia.  I have tried almost all the old remedies and am now going to see a specialist.  It just came on me a couple of months ago and it is getting on my nerves. lol  Anyway, my card today is dedicated to anyone who could use a lift.  The good word says to encourage one to another so here's me encouraging you.

Here's my card...

I used those oober adorable faeries from Emerald Faerie Garden.  I think they are so much fun to play with.  I created the sentiment and truly believe that friends are uplifting when you just can't seem to pull yourself up.  The papers are from MME and Basic Grey.  I kind of mixed and matched here.
I will definitely be playing with these cuties again. :-)

Spectacu-lure Day!!

Greetings!

It has been gorgeous here.  We have had temps in the mid 60s and I am loving it!  Spring may just be coming early this year, but I don't want to jinx it. *gigl*  I used an image from Doodle Pantry today for my card.  It is a male intended card; however, I dedicate the sentiment to all my blog buddies.

Here's my card...

I think this is an excellent "male" card, but with splashes of color that a woman can appreciate.  I love this paper from MME.  The colors look like they have been out in the water and have rusted or bleeding.  I tried to pull those colors into the image, but for some reason I had in my head (and I don't fish) that these lures should be these colors.  Funny how the mind works.  The diecut is a svg of a stamp that I enlarged and cut out on my Cricut.  I finished it off with twine, because...well it worked.

Emerald Faeries "Sorry to bug you"

Greetings!

Today I will be joining a group of my bffs for our annual crop at a local church.  I love getting together and catching up with them, because  we don't get to see each much (although 3 of us work at the same place).  I am the only cardmaker in a pool of occasional cardmakers, but mostly scrapbookers.  I love to get ideas for them on color and layout.

I am brining you another card using the Emerald Faerie Garden's "Ally" faerie.  You can get this cutie and several others by visiting the Emerald Faerie Garden blog.  They are all gorgeous and so fun to color up!!  Anyway, I enjoyed playing with them and I am sure you will too.

Here's my card I titled "Sorry to bug you," because I always feel like I am bothering people.  I don't know what that is all about.  Sooo, if I bothered you at some point in time this card is for you! :-)

You can tell I love color.  This paper is from Basic Grey and I allowed it to be my inspiration for this card.  I used Copics to color my little faerie Ally and created the sentiment (which will be available up above in the cinnaments if you would like it).  So since I am such an enabler, you should head over and check them out on the blog.  They also have challenges and right now they have a DT call.  I thought I would wait until I played with them some more before applying for the DT. :-)

Create with TLC Doilies

Greetings!

Happy Saturday!  Today I am meeting my BFF for our annual crop date.  Around this time of year we attend a 12 hour crop that one of our local organizations sponsors.  We honestly spend most of our time running our mouths, but it is fun nonetheless.  Today is going to be a quick post about "thinking-outside-of-the-box," because these creations I made today was a result of that very thing.  I was playing around with some doilies that Paulette from Create with TLC created and offered either in her store or as random freebies, I can't remember.  Nevertheless, they have proven to be very versatile and today I used them to create a Geometric layout and a good way to use up scraps of dp.

Here are my cards...

Used the layout from RetroSketches Challenge, but was too late to enter it. :-(

This card I folded double-sided paper in half and made the flower circle fan out.

These cards were created by randomly placing the circles and then resizing them some of them.  I added some floral designs to pic 1 and 2, because I wanted to see what it would look like.  I liked the look.  I also took some scrap papers and used my MS circle punch to cut our circles.  I adhered them to the inside of the circles and used my Copics to color the other smaller circles.  I went over the 1st pic with a glaze pen and the other with my Copic Spica glitter pen.

Well, that is how I play around.  Enjoy your day and thanks for looking and commenting.

Betsey...an Oldie but Goodie

Greetings!

I am sharing with you a card that is the direct result of me playing around with my Copics I hardly use.

I was inspired to make this card after sitting around one day thinking of my dad who passed away almost 13 years ago.  Me and my dad have similar personalities so we often bumped heads, but I totally respected and of course loved him.  Well, my dad had an old truck he affectionately called Betsey (why I don't know).  Betsey was the most hideous pile of metal on four wheels; however, she would get you from point A to point B just nowhere in between. *gigl*  Well, my dad would drop me off at work in her and I would be so embarrassed.  It was just that kind of truck.  He loved it!  So today's card is dedicated to my dad and his truck Betsey that he is probably driving around in Heaven in with a huge grin on his face. :-)

Here's my card...

The process...

This was a fun, but challenging card for me.  I had never tried to create a "rusty" vehicle before and came about this by accident.  I love to play with my Copic colors that I hardly use and stumbled on this combination of YR23, E07, E09 and the blender.  I laid down the YR23 first and then went over the area with E07.  I then took the blender and rubbed areas where I wanted the YR23 to come through.  I used the blender carefully because I didn't want it to totally remove all color.  I just wanted to create the contrast between the E07 and YR23.  Once I liked how it looked, I darkened in the E07 with E09 to try to convey an aging process.  When I finished it, I liked how it turned out (especially since it was my first time trying it) and from there Betsey (an Oldie but Goodie) was born again.  I also used W3, W5 and W7 for the trim and wheels.  I used E50, E51 and E53 for the back.  I added clear glaze to the windows and white glaze to the headlights and mirror.  I finsihed it off with a Copic Spica Grey pen for the tires.

Recipe:
Image:  I can't remember.  (I hate when this happens.)
Sentiment:  ME
Ink:  Copics
DP:  MME  and SU Cardstock
Diecuts:  Spellbinders Circles
Punches:  MS and SU
Embossing folder:  Tim Holtz's Gears folder

I hope you will give this a try.  I know that I am going to try it out again on maybe some different items.  I still have a ways to go to make it really look like rust, but practice makes perfect, right?!

Thanks for looking and commenting!

Challenges:
CropStop:  Use at least 4 colors (I used green, black, rust(ish), and multi-colors)

Moustache Love

Greetings!

I am playing with those quirky moustaches.  I was just playing around and came up with this zany card.  Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason for my creations and this definitely one of those times.

I was thinking once it was done it reminded me of a song that my co-workers are always talking about "Muskrat Love" by Captain and Tenille.  They tell me I am too young to appreciate it.  I tell them a song about a rat type animal in love with another rat type animal is scary.   Therefore, I dedicate this song to my two co-workers. lol

Here's my card...

I used dp and cardstock from SU.  I just realized as I was typing this that I didn't use any Copics.  lol  I printed everything up on the computer and used Spellbinder's Wonky Rectangles to cut it them out.  That's it!

Thanks for looking (and commenting)!
